Today I took Charlie to his 21 month checkup at the doctor's office. I have been dreading this appointment for a while now because it is hard to control him in public places when I am 8 months pregnant and alone. I packed plenty of distractions for him to eat/play with while we were waiting. Luckily, there was only one person ahead of me waiting for the doctor, and the grapes and book that I bought kept him entertained long enough for him to not want to get out of his stroller and play with the toys in the office.
When we were called into the room Charlie kept saying "poo poo" Usually, this means I have about 15-20 minutes before he is about to explode! It took a while to weigh him because he kept jumping up and down on the scale. He weighs 29lbs and is 35 inches tall. While we waited for the doctor, Charlie's 15-20 minute grace period of pooping expired and of course he went! He always has to save it for the doctor appointments!!! The doctor came in and asked about his progress, etc. I counted earlier this morning all of the words that he says and I came up with 26. Not bad!!! He had to have one shot, his second hepatitis, and I distracted him while she gave it to him. He cried a little and was a little quiet and clingy afterwards.
Since he was such a good boy we got lunch and went to the park. I ate my lunch in the car, and Charlie, being too excited to eat, waited for the ride home to eat his chicken nuggets. I was shocked that he actually ate them because every time we get some for him he never eats them! He'd rather eat fruits and vegetables!!
Overall, what I thought was going to be a stressful hectic day turned out to be pretty good! Let's hope all his appointments go as smoothly as today's!
